I'm having the same problem. Can't help but think it's a false positive. It started right after the latest update.
Can any admins confirm this?

Same thing is happening to me.

It started right after Avast updated to version 8.0.1489.

I stop the script shield for 10 min. - just enough to browse through the emails - I just hope that this is a false positive.

Avast support - please fix this asap  :'(

Same problem here - couldn't figure out how to stop the messages and the annoying voice continually advising me.  Uninstalled the product and now have peace and quiet!  Relief!!  All i was doing was composing a new message in Outlook/hotmail using google chrome.

This was my error

me too.  when I log in to outlook.com to load my Hotmail inbox page, I get the Avast warnings.   The Hotmail page loads, but it is missing the icons/buttons at the top of the page that allow you to do the Hotmail functions like "Reply", etc.  Also the line item icons that allow you to delete individual emails are missing.  I don't know if it is a FP or if Microsoft has let a bogey get into outlook.com.

Avast automatically knocks the connection to the website out. That is why you didn't get the buttons and stuff. You need to disable the script shield (and refresh the Outlook page) to get Outlook to work again. I ran into the same issue.

You might want to re-enable the script shield after you are done with Outlook.

Same.

How could they release a version of Avast that conflicts with Outlook.com (previously hotmail/live.com), arguably one of the most widely used free email providers.
That's rather embarrassing/sloppy if you ask me.

The version of avast is not the problem nor has anything to do with it, there's obviously a false positive being picked up in the latest VPS update.

What about the "streaming updates" that should give avast the edge over the competition and react in a very fast way to such issues?
Don't get me wrong, but just wondering...  Maybe only during normal working hours? :-\

I'm having the same issue too. But Hotmail is working perfectly on my iPhone.
Is there an actual threat posed by Hotmail right now, or is this likely a false positive?

Threat detected on outlook.com but no problem with windows live mail (Hotmail).
