Title: Installation Problems

I have removed all previous installations of the Avast! free but I cannot re-install Avast!  The setup program just sits at "File Shield" above the status bar.

Did you use the avast removal tool to thoroughly remove all remnants http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility

Many removal tools here http://singularlabs.com/uninstallers/security-software/ for other AV's you might have used in the past.

Yes.  3 times and each time in safe mode.

Are you using Windows 7?   Does Avast still show up in control panel under programs and features?

I am using Windows 7.  No, there isn't an Avast! program listed under Programs and Features in Control Panel.

What version and number of avast are you trying to install? the latest is 8.0.1489.

How long have you waited while avast was trying to install?

Hi,

I am trying to install version 8.0.1489.300.  I have waited 24 hours for it to complete.
