I installed Avast Free antivirus ... version 8.0.1489 on my new computer earlier this week . On two occasions while running CCleaner there have been files identified as Utilities- Avast Antivirus 6 . SIX?
I'm sure there is a simple explanation for this.
One would be appreciated. Thanks. Cranky.

CCleaner doesn't yet realise there is essentially no difference in the file/folder locations.
One thing I wouldn't let CCleaner go near avast files/folders, so I would uncheck those options.

Thank you Überevangelist! CCleaner took the initiative during install to check Avast! Antivirus 6 and Avast! Antivirus 8 for housekeeping.
On your advice I've unchecked both and fingers crossed no damage has been done to Avast in the few cleanups I've performed.
Thanks again.

You're welcome.
I don't believe any damage would have been done as the self-defence module should have stopped any important stuff being removed; though log and report files could be removed and that information could be quite useful.
