Title: Win32:Patched-HO [Trj]
Post by: Chr on June 11, 2013, 09:14:08 PM
Ive had my mac for 6 months.  Last week browser use got really slow. Takes sevral minutes before a  webpage shows up, if at all.

Something is using the bandwith I guess. Other computers on the same network is as fast as usuall. So I figured Id install avast. It found 3 infections. 2 adware and Win32:Patched-HO [Trj]. It was located: /Volumes/BOOTCAMP/pagefile.sys

I also installed avast on windows eniviroment. It found nothing.

Is this a false threat? Is it contected to my slow browsing? What do I do?

Pease help me. If possible keep it simple.

Thank you.

Christian

The path is on the Windows side (bootcamp), there's no relation between those 'infections' and your slowness on the mac side. Likely false positives also, as pagefile.sys is the page file for Windows and contains part of the contents that were in memory. Anyway, even if your Windows side is infected it does not affect OS X performance, at all.
