Title: AAVM scanning error prevented booting my XP - got stuck
Post by: cooby on June 29, 2013, 05:58:42 AM
I wanted to reboot my computer and it got stuck.
It might be related to the last update I got before rebooting.
Avast's icon appeared in the system tray and that was it. Stuck.

What is AAVM?

At this point, for the second time this week I uninstalled, used aswclear in safe mode, mopped up more what avast left behind and I have no idea what to do. Reinstall? Go to another vendor?

I'm afraid to install Avast again, considering the chrome fiasco I already experienced where it found rootkits in the installer.

Considering that the file is enormous, and I downloaded from avast.com, I don't feel like spending so much time reloading it. Avast worked so well for years, and seems like it's falling apart for me now.
