Hi !
I have downloaded Bart CD, installed it and gotten the
latest updates and burnt the CD.
(demo license, wanna check it out).
Now, i'll let it scan my computer and it found 2 trojans.
(only took a note, didn't delete)
After this i run the free "F-PROT antivirus" from another
bootCD (with the NTFS pro dos so it can read ntfs).
It also found the same 2 trojans as bart + an additional
4 trojans NOT recognized by bart.
I thought this was a fluke so i went and scanned a friends
computer with roughly the same results.
Bart finds 2
F-prot (free) finds all that bart finds + some more.
Now i'm wondering, why is this commercial scanner
missing out on threats that the free scanner finds ,
or is it F-prot is simply better ?

No scanner finds everything. Sometimes, avast! misses a few samples that F-PROT finds, sometimes it will be vice versa (it applies to all antiviruses, not just avast! or F-PROT, and it has nothing to do with the fact that it's a bootable CD).
Of course, you are welcome to submit the undetected samples to virus@avast.com

Yes, that is offcourse true.
Unfortunately I deleted all the found stuff with F-prot
so I can't submit any samples right now.
I do remember however that all the stuff that Bart missed
was 32trojans something....
On a footnote i can mention that i have NAV 2005 installed
at my comp.
And in the quarantine folder i have several things that i haven't cleaned out yet, and all these items were found
by F-prot, but none with Bart.
