Title: Avast Free and Gmail
Post by: larrylwill on July 17, 2013, 09:14:32 PM
I have been using Avast free for a few years now. After the last update I can not use gmail as an outgoing server. I always get the message cants send for unknown reason. I tried every setting in Gmail and every port. Other servers are not affected, seems only Gmail as outgoing. Then I switched off Avast email shield and it worked. Does anybody know of a fix besides having to disable the email shield?
Using Win 7 Ultimate and the latest Tbird and latest Avast.

have you tried avast repair to see if that changes anything?

controlpanel > ad/remove programs > avast > uninstall > repair option.....wait a minute and reboot

any change?

I tried that fix, did not work, so I uninstalled it completly and downloaded a new full copy and installed that and now it works.
Thanks
