Title: AVAST FREE removed folders on an external hard drive
Post by: KristinaMayor on July 21, 2013, 11:00:36 PM
Hello,

I just had AVAST FREE removing all folders in the index folder of my Phillips SPE3031CC/00 external hard drive. It has quarantined all the folders because it thought they were "fake folders" (they had .ink extension), I opened the quarantine and clicked to restore them but nothing happened, then I clicked to delete them from quarantine and now they're nowhere to be found. The data is still present on the drive, but I can only find it through search if I remember names of some files. How do I fix it?

I don't think avast! actually contains any code to remove folders, so it's not able to do that (if you're referring to a "folder" in the Windows OS sense).
What exactly did avast! report for infection? Or did it report hidden files or...?
