Title: Avast definitions wont update

Hi ,avast8 free has stopped updating definitions ,it auto updates but downloads nothing same if I manually update starts to download files then says OK.Any ideas, XPSP3 thanks greg

try downloading the full VPS here  http://www.avast.com/download-update

see if that changes anything

Hi, thanks for the reply,it turned out that when Shockwave player updated it installed Norton Security Scan which then dissabled avast and recommended I purchace one of their products.Once it was uninstalled Avast updated itself normally.
