Title: LNK:FakeFolder-B [Trj]
Post by: puetz on July 30, 2013, 10:56:28 AM
Hallo Forum,

Puetz

I lend my USB stick to someone and now some of the files have the ending .lnk (LNK) and I cannot open them anymore. Avast says that it found the following: LNK:FakeFolder-B [Trj]. Do I have a virus??? If yes, how can I get rid of it? Thank you for your help!!!
Puetz

Download MCShield from one of the following links:

MyCity -  Official download link (http://www.mcshield.net/downloads.html)
Softpedija - Mirror download link (http://www.softpedia.com/get/Antivirus/MCShield.shtml)

Recommendation to under General and Scanner tab you click on Defaults button to choose recommended options.
When all scanning is done, you need to attach a logreport that has made MCShield.

Start -> All Programs -> MCShield -> Logs

Attach here -> AllScans.txt

NP Argus. Unfortunately, he only mentioned it in the German part of his post.

Thank you for your answers!
I don't really mind whether I can open the files because I have them elsewhere as well. But I don't want to have a virus. So is this LNK:FakeFolder-B [Trj] malware, a virus???
Thank you for your help!!!

Probably yes, but I don't know if it would infect a Mac.
Please ask here: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=5.0
Sorry, most of us are on Windows. ;)
