Title: Avast Firewall blocks Wifi-Tether
Post by: qudo on August 08, 2013, 10:04:35 AM
Hello all,

i have a problem with avast Firewall blocking my Wifi-Tether Connection.

i use rxtreme rom, wich is samsung based with avast mobile security.
Firewallmode is whitelist mode.

when i open a mobile hotspot, i'm able to connect to it with all devices i own, but i can't get a internet connection as long as my firewall is activated.
as soon as i deactivate the firewall, everything works fine.

what services or own rules do i have do grant/implement internet access to get this working?

thank you all!

Hi Qudo

Did you ever get a response or figure this out? I am having the same problem on my rooted VZ Galaxy S4...  I enabled the fw log and tried whitelisting the apps requesting outbound access when i enable usb tethering but no success...

If anyone has any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated.

Ok... I found a work around by creating a custom whitelist rule to allow the IP subnet my S4 will assign an address from to the usb network interface for my laptop (192.168.42.0)...  But this is not ideal...

If anyone has better way to do this please post a reply...
