Title: Avast Doesn't Start With Windows
Post by: CuteBee on August 15, 2013, 05:29:43 PM

Hello all

My Avast doesn't start with windows even after uninstalling and reinstalling it. Even after system reinstall.. everytime I install it, after a few days it won't start up with windows 7. It was happening when I was running XP too, early this year. Does anyone know how to fix it?

Thank you

Have (or did) you another Anti-Virus installed in this system, if so what was it and how did you get rid of it ?

What other security based software do you have installed, anti-spyware, firewall, etc. ?

I have always only used Avast however I have Malwarebytes which I've always had too but I use it manually, it isn't running in the background. The firewall I have is the Windows 7 one

MBAM shouldn't be an issue even with the Pro version (see my signature), same thing with the Windows firewall that 'shouldn't interfere' with an item starting up. But do you still have Windows Defender enabled, as this is a part of win7 (if so try disabling it) ?

Next, try a repair of avast!
go to Programs and Features > select avast! > scroll down and select repair.
Reboot and see if that took care of the problem.
If not, next thing to try is a clean install of avast! (http://goo.gl/VLXde)
