Title: cannot download anything avast 7

I have used avast for years. Recently it has been flagging everything I try to download as a virus and deleting it. I am ready to uninstall the whole thing. I have scanned my pc with malwarebytes and found nothing. Updates not working either.  Suggestions?

what malware name does avast give the file(s) ?

to me this sounds like you have a file infector.... and Malwarebytes does not detect file infectors

Hi dfranzen.


Download DDS and save it to your Desktop from here:
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.scr

Double click dds to run the tool.

    * When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
        1. DDS.txt
        2. Attach.txt

Save both reports to your desktop. DDS.txt and Attach.txt attach back to topic.

still can't download anything - including dds.scr. flagged as containing a virus and deleted.

I tried uninstalling avast - control panel/uninstall programs and got an avast.setup unknown software exception Ox0000417 in application.

I tried booting in safe mode too.

was finally able to download awsclear from another PC on a usb stick and it worked.

 :)
