Title: Both registired and not registered
Post by: vrflash on August 19, 2013, 04:01:09 PM
My free avast is turned off all of the sudden. I get two conflicting messages:

On the top it says: Not yet registered (0 days remaining)
Below it says: current registration expire on 4/23/2014

If I click register now, I am taken to the next screen. I have to select either standard or complete protection. When I select standard, I am taken to the next screen. When I click continue to get free license, I get this error: the aavm subsystem detected a prc error.

I got a license through this link:

http://www.avast.com/registration-free-antivirus.php

I try to enter the license  following the instructions:
1. Highlight the license key above, then right click on it and select "Copy"
2. Open your avast Free Antivirus and select the Maintenance" tab on the left side. Then select "Registration"
3. Click the "Insert the license key" button at the bottom of the screen.
4. Right click in the empty Registration box then select "Paste"
5. Click "OK". Your license key is now inserted and the program can now be used free of charge for a further 12 months.

When I get to item 4, I don’t see a registration box.

Please help.

Thanks

Try a repair. Control Panel>Uninstall a program>double click "avast">click "repair">reboot.  :)

One more problem, sorry. I don't know if it's related.

Windows security center sez that Avast reports that it might be out of date. But Avast reports that it's fully updated.

What gives?

Thank you

Could you try the following command from an elevated command prompt :

Start > All Programs > Accessories > right click on Command Prompt and choose Run as Administrator

winmgmt /salvagerepository

Reboot on completion
