Title: EasyPass no Longer working with Chrome
Post by: pjjoe on August 22, 2013, 05:44:34 AM
I am not able to logon automatically using Chrome's latest version. I have tried to exit easypass, restart it, and disable and enable the toolbar in Chrome but it won't work. It will show the easypass logo and I can click on it. It will show the name of the site I'm on when I click the logo but when I click fill and submit, nothing happens. I have tried with multiple sites and doesn't seem to work at all now. All my data and sites are in Easypass when I click on edit, not sure what is happening here.

===

I watch the same problem. Easy Pass icon in Chrome hangs, but when clicking it the saved login isn't displayed.
Or it is as a last resort displayed, but when clicking it not login and the password in appropriate fields doesn't register.

Still yesterday such error wasn't.

Same issue here, when I checked into it Chrome gave me an error involving the wrong "Manifest_Version".  Any ideas?

В Chrome вчера вечером обнаружил установленный Google Wallet, который невозможно деинсталлировать.
Может быть, это с этим как-то связано ?

==

In Chrome last night I found set Google Wallet which can't be uninstalled.
Perhaps, the reason in it?

Confirmed - Google Chrome 29 is not working anymore with EasyPass 7.7.8.128  :'(

Confirmed - Google Chrome 29 is not working anymore with EasyPass 7.7.8.128  :'(

И эта проблема будет решаться ?
А то сначала Firefox перестает поддерживаться, теперь - Chrome ...

===

And this problem will be solved?
And that at first Firefox ceases to be supported, now - Chrome...

Is there an estimated day/time that this issue with Chrome will be resolved by avast?

Well, I'm glad it's not just me -- I've been trying everything to figure out why EasyPass no longer will fill in forms, or offer to save passwords.

In case it helps with resolution:

Same problem with me, I can't log in, it just 'hangs' very frustrating when you have numerous log ins!   Just hope they can sort this out asap  :(

Glad it's not just me. Too bad Chrome AUTO-UPDATES. This version here is working today, but it just updated and needs to re-launch Chrome, so I'm guessing it won't work anymore after this update.

Here is the last version I have working with EasyPass in the picture. Yes, I was getting the Manifest Error 2 message also with the new version of Chrome with my other PC. Need a fix FAST cause I use EasyPass all the time.

Same problem here, & had it previously with Firefox & thought it was my computer messing me about so changed to chrome & now that's useless as well WTF!!
What is the point in having software with all your passwords if you can't use it!!

Also if I try to email support from help in Easypass it keeps just bouncing the email back.

Can anyone help please?

I think this may be a temporary answer. Download an older version of Chrome, then uninstall it, and install older version here http://www.oldapps.com/google_chrome.php

Here is the last version that worked for me: http://www.oldapps.com/google_chrome.php?old_chrome=12715

Don't forget to turn OFF automatic updates in CHROME.

This can't be a good thing to do for security reasons surely?  I would rather know what the issue is & get it rectified properly by Avast.  Especially as I have just paid for a new subscription!!

Totally agree, we need a REAL fix for this ASAP since we paid for this software. It does work in IE still, there's another workaround. But that's why I said a TEMPORARY solution.

Disabling automatic updates is a little harder than you might think. I think easiest may be to go to the task scheduler.

Hello,

there is a compatibility issue in the latest Google Chrome and avast! EasyPass toolbar. We are already working on fix. In the meantime I can only suggest you to use a different web browser.

Add me to the list.  It's not working for me either.   I am using Google Chrome Version 29.0.1547.57 m on 64bit Windows 8 Pro.

Oddly enough, this week I've considered going to actual RoboForm (instead of using EasyPass), because they have an iOS app where I can access my passwords.  If this isn't fixed quickly, I just might cut my losses and jump ship.

add me too... been about 24 hours now that it is screwed up.  I called "Customer Support" but the lady had no idea what I was talking about but for a fee could connect me to tech support.  FOR A FEE!  I politely and tersely questioned the fee for a non-working product and proceeded to fake a thank you and pleasant goodbye.
This experience has lessened my likelihood of renewing Avast products but I do like their products so maybe I can get over the service experience if they fix this in a timely fashion.

This too has questioned my desire to renew EasyPass.    As I said, I'm just contemplating going to Roboform now since they are both working, and have a mobile password access solution.  Roboform is the same thing as EasyPass, as EasyPass was built off of Roboform - look at all the places in EasyPass where it says Roboform anyway!

Well, well well Avast . . .

I called their support and the guy on the phone immediately tried to sell me a repair package to fix my whole computer. He remote connected and went on and on about how it is MY computer causing the issue and if I allowed Avast to go in and optimize it for the yearly fee of 170 USD or so then they could help me forever.

Now the cost is not that bad for support, but I did not call for that. I called for THIS.

Avast is not saving passwords or filling in forms on Two of my three PCs and I have no idea why. I uninstalled it, reinstalled. Checked everything I could.

I generally do not search the net looking for answers if I have a competent company to help me. After all, it is Avast's software that is not working. And, it appears as if my issue is not rare as the phone representative told me.

I put in a complaint ticket about their service, but honestly, unless Avast reaches out to me they can go to hell. I have been a customer for over five years and I love the product, but that guy on the phone was a pushy salesman and he was rude. No, he does not represent the company. This is why I sent an email complaint.

No one has bothered to respond to me or the other people here. I do not think this is acceptable customer service. I hope someone from Avast sees this so they will fix their issues.

They just lost this customer.

I have disabled my Task Scheduler Google update tasks (there were a few of them in there). Then downloaded the last working version of Chrome, then uninstalled Chrome and installed the old version (left all my profile history and preferences etc. on the computer when it asked while uninstalling). Maybe a little un-secure without the very latest Chrome update but for now I'll trust Avast for my security updates.

Works great again with EasyPass. I'll leave it this way until they fix this. I love Chrome and I love EasyPass so this is how it will be for now.

I downloaded the last version of Chrome that works with EasyPass here: ->> http://www.oldapps.com/google_chrome.php?old_chrome=12715?download

If they're aware of this issue, I would expect it to get fixed soon.

Hi all,

yes we are aware of this issue, and we are now testing the latest build of EasyPass, which supports the new Chrome. It should be released soon.
Thanks for your patience.

That is wonderful. It does not explain how or why the I and the other customers were treated so poorly on the phone.  Since your business is the internet, should you not be prepared for browser updates when you have programs that integrate with them? How about giving your customers a heads up message or something?

Hi,

thank you for this good news.

Do you know if there is some news about the similar problem for Firefox. It doesn't work since FF 22 and the only workaround provided in the thread is to downgrade.
Thank you.

Best regards

Same here :( Though it was just my computer.
Reinstalled and issue remains. Checked and confirmed issue on 3 computers.

I'am aware that Google with it's Chrome auto update is a major factor in this problem, but Avast should be in sync with current browser updates.

For the time being you can use another browser if you can't live without auto-fill.
Other option is to just open EasyPass and search for your password.

I hope Avast will resolve this soon.

I went looking for news on the Roboform website.

The Roboform version of this product seems to have been updated for weeks to resolve the Firefox issue.
And the Roboform version seems to have been already updated to resolve the Chrome issue.

So I don't understand why Easy Pass is not up-to-date knowing it the same product under different names.

When the problem is resolved by avast, will we be automatically upgraded to the corrected version... or emailed that it is available... or do we have to keep checking back at this site for the instruction to upgrade to the corrected version?

This is getting annoying. Even though Google updates were disabled in the Task Scheduler, somehow Google Chrome has updated itself. We need a fix soon or we better be getting refunds because it is not working with Chrome, we can take our refund and apply it to Roboform which seems to be able to stay updated to work correctly. Why was there no notice given about the problem with EasyPass? It does not seem EasyPass is updated with the care that Avast A/V is.

Switched to IE?????? What scary thought. That would be like you telling us to temporarily switch from Avast to Norton lol. Hopefully that fix is coming soon.  8)

I am not sure who you are, but I just fell in love with you if this fixes the problem!  It is sad I had to come here to check otherwise I would have never known!

Avast really needs to do something about their level of customer service and frankly, I am still very, very pissed about the guy who tried to sell me a service to fix something that was NOT the issue.

Do you work for Avast or are you just a beta tester?

Thanks for what you do!

Speaking of which, is there any word on this being made for Android phones? I would love to be able to use easy pass there as well.

Just adding my voice to the chorus of disappointed Easy Pass users.

I'm experiencing all the same problems.

I paid $10 for this? Something that could break because Google updated it's browser and no notification from Avast or promise to fix???

I expected better than this. I put my trust in their product because I've used their anti-virus for years and have been happy with it. But this has tarnished
their reputation.

I'm going to have to go back to MyPadlock to be sure I can add passwords that I want to keep.

I downloaded the update and restarted my computer and EasyPass seems to be working. One problem, I can't get EasyPass to appear at the top of my screen... like it did before this problem and the update. Any ideas as to how I can get it to appear at the top of my Chrome screen? Thanks!

It's there but it's hidden. Put your mouse over the right edge of the address bar until you see a little arrow pop up then drag it to the right to show the extensions. Thank Google for hiding them without telling us.

Actually I had to drag my address bar to the left a bit to shorten it, and then the EasyPass icon showed up and stayed on the top at the far right. In looking all over for it I thought I had "clicked" on every possible area of the screen to make it show up... but obviously I missed one. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and helping me out!

You're welcome, and yes, I meant drag it to the left. I was writing this from memory. I had the same problem and I googled to find the answer last week.

After update everything seems to be working fine  :)
Some auto-update for EasyPass would be nice.
After this happened I started looking for Roboform as alternative.
Option for mobile platforms that still isn't implemented in EasyPass will make me think about next years licence renewal.

I am simple user who uses avast! for really long time and trying to help others if it is possible as I do not work on avast! There are more of us, called as avast! evangelists. Beta tester status shows I am testing BETA version right now, as soon as BETA will be over I will switch back to "evangelists" group.

Hi guys,

update to avast! EasyPass 7.9.1 -> http://files.avast.com/files/easypass/avast_easypass_setup.exe

Thanks man,  you're a lifesaver.

So about 15 minutes ago I got off the phone with Avast support about the above mentioned problem.  I asked when they were going to update the Easy Pass toolbars to work in Chrome and Firefox.  I was told that they were working on it,  but would be happy to check my computer for $150.  I insisted that it was a compatibility issue with the toolbars and these 2 browsers.

I pressed and pressed....when would they update this?  A simple question right?  And there was already an update posted on this forum.

So either their support didn't know about this update,  or they chose not to tell me.  Either one is unacceptable.

And lesson learned,  check the forums first.  But I get all warm and fuzzy when I'm using a paid product and see a customer service number.  I'm old fashioned I guess.  They did answer very quickly and were polite,  but maybe just to sell diagnostic services.

I won't normally join a forum just to post a negative experience,  but come on guys...really???
