Post by: xp_1839 on May 06, 2005, 01:04:41 AM
Anyone experience this strange problem with avast antivirus pro 4.6.652?
web page stops loading after a while! Must close browser and re-open again to load pages.

Suspect avast! web sanner causing prpblem but unable to get around this problem.
Previously using Symantec Antivirus 10.0.0359 without issue.

Firefox 1.0.3
ZoneAlarm Pro 5.5.094.000

What OS? Do you use transparent proxy or configured it manualy? Do you use privacy control features in ZA?

Check out this link first http://www.avast.com/eng/webshield_issues.html

You should have seen an avast! Web Shield compatibility dialogue - Install/Update Question - YES or NO when you installed/updated to 4.6.652, what was your selection? - it should have been yes.

If you are using ZoneAlarm Pro and Privacy Control in ZoneAlarm is set to High and if you click YES in avast comptability dialog box the transparent mode proxy in webshield will be turned off you have to manually configure browser to access internet. To manually configure your browser watch instructional video

You know I've been having the same problem with Firefox. I'm not sure what's going on. I setup the proxy manually as the video instructs and the problem persisted. I don't have a clue what the cause is.

Web page loading is now OK after manually setting the proxy posted by DavidR. No more hangs!

Thanks to DavidR for your kind advice.

Hotmail login page refuse to load, show blank screen in both Firefox 1.0.3 & IE 6.0 when using manual proxy of localhost with port 12080.
