Title: avast explorer extention bug???
Post by: YLAP on May 07, 2005, 07:48:38 PM
As i know avast should scan all files from explorer extension menu. Today i noticed that it freezes during big files scan. Cancel button stiil works, also these files are scanned during normal scan without freezing. I tried to scan some avi files aprox. 700mb each one, and one bigger file from ms encarta 9about 300 mb). extension scan freezes, normal scan checks it fast and without errors. I know it's not very important, but it looked as interesting behaviour for me. Any comments?

I'd say it's just different type/sensitivity of the scan. The Explorer Extension uses "Thorough" scan, i.e. scan all files and whole files. The "normal scan", as you say, doesn't scan the whole files but just some (usually "dangerous") parts.
