Title: disabling dialogs while scanning e-mails
Post by: ungar on May 08, 2005, 08:41:38 AM
I'd like avast to stop asking me what to do when it finds a virus in an incoming e-mail.  It should just delete it (recommended action), add INFECTED to message header (as it does already), and go on scanning.  I haven't found any way to disable these dialogs.

Yes, exactly the same configuration...
But for me, there's no need to hide Avast! warning windows.

We're not the same person.

The reason I want not to be notified is that my client is set to check mail automatically, and the way things are now, if there's a virus dialog I have to check "delete" before it goes on checking mail.  Whereas if it just deletes the attachments and adds "infected"  to the subject, I have a filter that sends to message to the trash.  Much simpler.  Anyway, I'll try silent mode and see if it works.

Before I do that, though, I'm not sure what is meant by general answer Yes or No.  I looked at the help file, which says something about global settings on the Virus page, but I don't know where that page is to be found.

Just to make things clear:  When avast detects a virus with an incoming message, it gives me the possibility to delete (recommended) along with other possibilities.  When I check delete, I get another dialog asking me to choose whether to delete entirely or move to recycle bin.  I click on delete (entirely).  These are the two choices I want taken automatically.  If choosing general answer No means that will be done, fine, but I admit I'm confused.

Thanks for your help.

In Home version is not possible a full automatic procedure. You must buy the Professional version for that.
In Home version the Silent Mode with answer 'No' by default will send the infected file to Chest.

Thanks.  And what will Silent Mode with default answer "Yes" do (in the Home Version)?

The answer Yes in Silent Mode keeps the virus in the file or into the message (attach) and continue the scanning.

OK, I'll try silent mode with default reply "no".  Thanks for all your help.
