Hi there,
I want to do some maintenance and defragment my four HDs. In order to speed up the process I'd like to tell Avast 's File system shield to ignore ultradefrag.exe's reads and writes. I've discovered how to exclude paths, but not programs. Any help appreciated.

There's no such option, sorry.

Ok, thanks for your time.

Well, I'm not sure I'm following you, but you can exclude folders and files (paths): ultradefrag.exe can be added to the exclusion list.

Igor got it (no such option), you can exclude a file from being scanned, but not the actions/files opened/created/modified, etc. that the program takes whilst it is running.

Oh, now I see what does the OP mean. Thanks David.

Thank you all for your help. I'll schedule the defrags for when I'm not using the PC and turn the AV off.

Don't forget to turn the internet off too.
