Title: Pup.Optional.D... How do I get rid of it?
Post by: ecbritz on September 05, 2013, 03:13:15 PM
The malware "Pup.Optional.D..." keeps returning to my four computers. They are all protected by Avast Pro Antivirus. How can I get rid of this pest? It does not help to run a scan at boot-time.

First thing to do would be to run browser cleanup with Avast, I believe this is under tools in V8

I wish it was as easy as that. No Browser pup found. Does anybody have experience with "Pup.Optional.D..."?

Well, I don't have a experience with it, but I may know how to remove it.

Have you tried searching into your temporary files? (Start > Run > %temp%)

Try rebooting in safe mode and deleting all of your temporary files, or go on the internet and download MalwareBytes Anti-Malware. Helps a lot.
Try using Temp Files Cleaner to clean temp files faster.
Also try Advanced SystemCare and  make a full system scan with Avast!.
CCleaner helps a lot too.

Download Advanced SystemCare: http://www.iobit.com/advancedsystemcareper.php
Download MalwareBytes Anti-Malware: http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_pro/
Download Temp File Cleaner: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Security/Secure-cleaning/Temp-File-Cleaner.shtml
Download CCleaner: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

Here's a website in case you tried the suggestions above and it didn't work: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=130750

Cheers

Download Advanced SystemCare: http://www.iobit.com/advancedsystemcareper.php

Something like that...is a snakeoil and those type of registry cleaner or anything can screw your system up,better stop recommending if you dont know what you are doing and on top of that Iobit is a thief:

http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=30989
http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=33217

So better stop than to be sorry, you seriously dont know what you are doing, recommending questionable tune up tools can screw OP's system up,instead I had recommend the OP to follow essexboy;s advice.
