Title: avast shield scanner ruining downloads
Post by: Thomas Ness on September 07, 2013, 03:48:10 PM
I was looking for information, or maybe someone else who has a problem with avasts shield scanner ruining there downloads, when I found a post in this forum. I tried to reply, but received a message "this post is 20 days old". I thought it best to make a new post for my particular problem....I use the Internet Download Manager, and never had a problem, until I setup avast on my computer. Now I get either; "host has done a hard reset", or in the case of a recent update of my Java; "installer file is corrupt", when I disable the avast shields everything is smooth again. I wanted to make sure that was the problem so, I tried some downloads with the shield enabled, and, some with the shield disabled. Sure enough, every time the shield was enabled I received the same messages; not from avast, but from windows it's self. A word of warning though; DON'T turn off the shields during a download. Its like you hurt avasts feelings, so it cuts off your download in retaliation. Few things worse, than getting more than half a file downloaded, then having to re-download, because your antivirus is throwing a tantrum!  ;)
Is there anyone who might be able to help with this problem? I like the avast program, because it works better than just about anything out there, and has more features. I would hate to have to uninstall.  Thank you.

Is there any reason why you need to use a download manager ???

The built in DL manager in Firefox works great for me.

I would uninstall the download manager.
