avast5? You do realize that version 8 is the latest (not counting the 2014 RC2)
What is the exact(!) location?
What OS?
What version of avast do you have installed?

That doesn't necessarily mean that the OP is using avast 5. Program updates from the user interface would have retained the folder structure and registry entries.

Only if the user did a clean install would the folder structure and registry references be changed the new folder structure. C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast

I upgraded to Avast 8 from previous versions and eventually used the removal tool to get rid of old leftovers and did a clean install. There are still references to avast 5 but in the new avast folder. I'm fine with that as everything works but it is a bit confusing at first.

Do you have the new location C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast as well as that old location avast5 location ?

Which may also have the reference to ALWIL Software . But I can't see the reason for having an \avast5\setup folder within the new folder layout, especially since you have done a clean install of avast 8.

So what is the full path to that location (as Eddy asked) not the ...\ path concatenation ?
