Just now Adobe Updater automatically updated and installed a new version of Adobe Reader, but then went to Software Updater and it fails to detect the new version that is installed. I rescanned it and restarted my laptop, but it didn't work?

UPDATE: I uninstalled Adobe Reader and I went to Adobe Reader but they still got the old version. So I installed that and got another update via Adobe Updater saying an updated version of Adobe Reader is ready to download and install. So I installed it and again Avast Software Updater still detecting the old version of Adobe Reader.
Is this Avast or Adobe issue?

I have heard several people report this type of issue. Some of the posters have said to not update through Avast Updater because of this issue. I actually uninstalled Avast Updater as I think it is annoying. I just go straight to the products websites and get my updates there.

I've been having same problem for weeks now; Avast keeps telling me "Flashplayer Active X" needs updating to xxx v.117 and Adobe Checker tells me that's the updated version installed, even after several 'Rescans'. This is an irritating time-waster, although not life-threatening!

In the main website of Adobe. The version number of Adobe Reader download is 11.0.04 and not the new version. The new version is 11.0.5 that i have installed is the new one. Avast software updater says 11.0.04.63 is the local version and the new version. I guess Adobe didn't update it's website so user can download the latest version instead of having to download the old version and installing it and again updating it to the new version.

We're aware of this updating issue, but as volunteer helpers, we're unable to do anything about it. It's up to avast! devs to refine this program so it issues timely notifications and subsequent updates for users.
One other way to keep current is to use this program: http://secunia.com/products/consumer/PSI/sys_req/ (http://secunia.com/products/consumer/PSI/sys_req/) Here one can download an older version if the current version is not what one wants. Green download button is for the current version, 3.0.0.7011.
Other version 2 is 2.0.0.4003.
Either one will work. The difference between the two is that the newest version displays much less detail on files monitored, whilst the older version allows one to drill down to the actual file in question and gives the actual file path and folder.

Secunia has a much better track record in timely updating, IMO, and also offers automatic updates for adobe products, so one does not have to do anything to move to the latest secure version other than to run PSI on a daily basis using the full scan mode via automatic updates. PSI will do all the work for you if one scans on a daily basis.

Yesturday I wrote a PM to Lukas and now the issue in Avast Software Updater for only Adobe Reader update issue that I had is now been fixed. New VPS update is 131010-1.

Same issue here...Updated Flash Player Active X with the lastest version, yet Avast's Software Updater keeps saying it's not updated. What's really annoying is the "CRITICAL" notice, in red no less. That's overstating things, isn't it? The software updater is a real pain, but wouldn't be if it worked correctly!

I really hope these sort of issues doesn't happen when Avast 2014 final version releases?

I was having this same problem for long time, but now found out a way to get over it. Like was said, nothing serious, but bothering.
When you go to adobe's activex installation page it asks what version you want to install. I only use Chrome and Mozilla so I have only installed other version. I thought to install also Explorer version and after that Avast updater agrees that activex is really up to date.

Yes, confirmed. If you have a browser other than Internet Explorer, after you download the version for your browser, then you also have to download the one for Internet Explorer and Avast updater will then say it's up to date, otherwise it won't.
