Title: Windows 8.1/Avast Blocking Blocking Disqus
Post by: Daylife on October 18, 2013, 01:22:07 AM
Hello everyone, I just updated to 8.1 and i had to reinstall Avast all over again. Its working fine, but now when i go to IGN.com or a website that uses Disqus for comments etc it doesnt show them and it blocks them.

I called Avast and spoke with one of the tech people and the guy told me that every anti-virus software right now is incompatible with 8.1 and that i would need to downgrade to windows 8. I find that to be crazy talk, you would think that they would of been working on a version for windows 8.1....Guess not.

Does anyone have a fix for the Disqus comments know showing up?

I had the same problem. I turned off Do Not Track and the comments reappeared.

I had the same issue with Google Chrome and had to allow third-party cookies to get Disqus to work properly on one site but not on another.  Apparently, there is variation in how a website signs up with Disqus services; some prohibit Disqus from setting third-party cookies.  Damn cookies anyway!
