Hello!
I just updated the last night to Mac OS X Mavericks (10.9) and at the end of the installation I was notified that avast is not compatible with the OS, and that it has been moved to another folder (I forgot exactly). I got that warning even if I was already using the latest version, 8.0 (39915), which claims to be compatible with Mavericks. However, Avast seemed to work perfectly, but just to be sure, I wanted to reinstall it. So I uninstalled it from the application with the Uninstall tool, and just to be sure I restarted, then tried to start the uninstaller from the installation package to be sure that nothing was installed (and it wasn't), and then properly installed it.
Now the problem is that I'm trying to register it again but it stays forever at "Retrieving information, please wait...". What should I do?
Thank you.

I am having exactly the same issue. Unfortunately I didn't check here soon enough to see the problem seems to be isolated to the preference pane which winds up in the "incompatible software" folder. Before uninstalling, the application seemed to be functioning fine other than the pref pane, and it launched just fine from the incompatible software folder.
After reinstalling the application (latest build) I also get hung up at the registration step. It does communicate with my existing avast! account and makes an entry for the installation, but it is incomplete. (Doesn't recognize OS, etc.) As far as the installation goes, it appears to install normally, but does not register.
Hope there is a quick fix for this issue!

Glad I am not the only one suffering from this issue. Stupid me, I've decided to do a clean install just to rid of the crud that's been lurking that's carried over from OS to OS and so on. I really don't want to abandon Avast! because I've tried others, (ClamXav, Sophos), but they better fix this in 30 days or I am out.

Hi,
I have the same issue, too (and I have the issue with Preference pane, which is pointed out in the other thread).
I believe the Avast! team is aware of them and will fix it soon.
Thank you!

Hello!
I have the same problem with the registration too. Yesterday I made a clean install and that's why I had to reinstall Avast. I thought that I would be the only one facing this issue. Hopefully Avast resolves the problem soon, there is no better antivirus software for mac than Avast.
Thank you!

Same problem here!!! I'm unable to register Avast! after a OS X 10.9 clean install. Always on "Retrieving information, please wait...".

I'm not sure if it is related or someone from Avast fixed the problem, but it worked after I disabled the checkbox "Report program status to the avast! account" in Preferences - Miscellaneous, connected to my account and then retried the Registration procedure with my existing account.

This worked for me! Weird that it would correct the issue but thank you for posting this!

This issue is fixed in version released yesterday. Thanks for patience.

Thanks for the update Pepa Havlin! However, you guys uploaded the paid Avast Pro to cnet, instead of the free one, as other people reported too in other threads. May we get a fix? ::) For the moment we are either stuck with the older version that doesn't register (which didn't prompt for update), either with the Pro version (like me).

Right on....that's what the trouble is. How about the free version that is meant for OS X and not the one that wants us to insert a lic.
Please give us a download that we are able to register this one will not let us do that it just keeps asking for a license!
Thanks.

Hey there Pepa Havlin where are you? The issue has not been fixed! Where are you when we need you?
I am going to uninstall this travisty and wait till something that works is ready to go. Thank goodness we don't
have the new version that the Windows Machine does...nothing on that thing works and I spent good $$ on it.

Thanks a lot Asyn, that's the right version and the registration problems reported in the old build are now gone.
However, the Pro version is still on cnet, so everyone who will try to download it from the Avast website will download the wrong version. You guys should fix that as soon as possible, otherwise you will loose some customers and get many support questions on how to solve the problem.
Keep up the good work! ;)

Hi Asyn.
That did the trick!! Way to go!
Registered just fine, we now have the right version just make sure CNET gets the right one and that will
save a lot of grief for everyone concerned.
Thanks.

1. You're welcome.
2. Hopefully the Mac guys will fix it asap.
