Title: Software developers cant use Avast.
Post by: nigelwright7557 on October 27, 2013, 12:28:49 AM
Because I write programs Avast is always taking exception to my created .exe files and takes 20 seconds to accept them. One program has a launcher and 10 parts so it takes 11 * 20 seconds to approve each module ! And I have four programs like this.

I also write Windows 8 apps and Avast checking the executables slows down the app so much they fail the Windows App Certification process.
I have had to remove Avast and use Comodo anti virus instead.

Anti virus software should run in the background and be none intrusive if possible.

So set up DeepScreen exclusions accordingly, or don't enable that component at all... Development is NOT a typical usage of Avast, sorry. You need to configure your machine accordingly if you are running tons of completely unknown unique executables regularly.

I think your answer lies in two of your past posts http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=93924.msg747831#msg747831
and here http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=93913.msg747766#msg747766

It seems you have this insatiable desire to ask the same question in more than one way.
Now avast has deepscreen and other improvements.

From the avast FAQ (http://www.avast.com/faq.php?q=2014#searchForm)...

I dumped Avast and am now using Comodo.
When it comes across an unknown file it asks me if it is OK.
I click on yes and the job is done.
There is no 20 second investigation into the file which is what I want.

I guess the problem is the PC environment, it is so open to abuse.
This is why Windows 8 apps run in a sandbox.

That's because Comodo is rather dumb in the current state. avast! on the other hand tries to take off the burden from users and does the analysis and decision on its own. It cannot do that without analysis which simply take time.

I see no reason in dumping avast! where you could simply set the exclusions properly and that would be it. Your apps would then only get checked when they are fully compiled and verified and you're about to publish them, but not during development. It's as simple as that.

Wonderful strategy. They could as well drop that "protection" altogether. Asking users does NOT work. (I won't further comment on the antivirus component of CIS.)
