Title: Deploying Avast on Windows 8.1
Post by: wbtech on October 28, 2013, 03:57:12 PM
I've upgraded a group of my machines to Windows 8.1 and attempted to deploy Avast to them via the console. Most of them brought up the compatibility waring and prevented the installation from completing. The few that did complete suffered a blue screen after a Windows Update pertaining to Internet Explorer.

I know Microsoft is at fault as Avast worked perfectly with Widows 8, but I was just curious to know when 8.1 will be officially supported with Avast endpoint. Also, will endpoint users be seeing a version 9 program soon as well?

Ok, so I had several problems with Avast firewall when I updated, most of them I have resolved, usually by working two angles.  I uninstalled and reinstalled which helped but did not fix all the other issues.  I found that going to the firewall settings and drilling down to the programs and changing my IE fixed most of the issues.  Good luck, until they update I think the default settings will not be the best for the updated windows system.
