After receiving an automatic avast update this morning I can no longer send messages from Outlook 2007. Ok after disabling mail shield.
Everything was ok before this update.
The last popup message saying that current versions are 131105-1 so I suppose that's the problem.
avast! free 2014.9.0.2007 131105-1

do you get any error messages....what does it say?
-
I am also having problems after update, I can receive mail, but unable to sync via IMAP. If I disable email scanner, all works fine. :(

I receive the following message from the "System Administrator":

if you do a avast repair...does that change anything?
controlpanel > ad/remove programs > avast > uninstall/changee > repair option .... wait a minute and reboot
-
Repair does not solve the error.
When mail shield is on, I can only receive emails.

Try the suggestions in this thread - but read the whole thing to the bottom past my last entry:
