Title: Avast Internet Security blocks eclipse debug mode
Post by: askimboyxxx on November 08, 2013, 06:04:22 PM
Before installing Avast Internet Security i was able to run and debug my application in eclipse (version Juno) without problems, but after installing Avast Internet Security i can run my application but i can't debug it, in the fact when i click on F11 to launch debug i get the following error :

Launching MyApplication has encountered a problem.
Cannot connect to VM
Details:
Cannot connect to VM
com.sun.jdi.connect.TransportTimeoutException

And in console window it's displayed:
FATAL ERROR in native method: JDWP No transports initialized, jvmtiError=AGENT_ERROR_TRANSPORT_INIT(197)
ERROR: transport error 202: connect failed: Connection timed out
ERROR: JDWP Transport dt_socket failed to initialize, TRANSPORT_INIT(510)
JDWP exit error AGENT_ERROR_TRANSPORT_INIT(197): No transports initialized [../../../src/share/back/debugInit.c:690]

I suspect that Avast firewall is blocking access to debug mode of the local Virtual machine (jdk1.6.0_25) or when installing avast the setup has modified some Windows system configuration.

I have the same problem. It has been a big troubble. We need some solution. Even disabling AVAST the debug mode in Eclipse does not work.

 >:(I am having this problem for already 90 days, Avast Help chat took my time for 2 days asking for files, eclipse configurations, etc without even to confirm that they are having a problem, a big problem. Is Avast willing not to support anymore the Eclipse Community because of this strange bug. Is Avast willing to refund me? I am without virus protection since October 15th.

Two ways to fix this:

1. Uninstall the firewall of avast, not just deactivate it.

2. Install the Beta, Issue is fixed there. http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=61082.msg1049951#msg1049951
