Title: Avast free "You are unprotected" wont turn on.
Post by: Thegen68 on November 09, 2013, 04:16:03 AM
I recently downloaded AVAST and already ran into trouble. Once avast opens it says " You are unprotected" and I click the turn on all button. Nothing happens, I have uninstalled AVAST by using avastclear and deleted everything from my last av. I've tried to use the repair option and still nothing. I am using Windows 8 pro x64

What was your last (before Avast) AV and did you use their uninstall utility?

1. Download Avastclear, Rejzors uninstall tool and the appropriate Avast program edition

http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_pro_antivirus_setup.exe
http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_internet_security_setup.exe
http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_premier_antivirus_setup.exe

Avastclear : http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avastclear.exe
Rejzors Uninstall tool: http://rejzor.wordpress.com/avast-cleanup-tool/

2. Uninstall Avast by control panel  [If you don't have Avast in control Panel go to #4]
3. Uninstall in safe mode using Avastclear.
4. Run Rejzors Uninstall Utility in Normal Mode (removes traces avastclear doesn't) - reboot.
5. Install the version you downloaded.
6. Reboot.

You can insert license file during install or after reboot. (If using paid version)

Did all of that and still have the same problem.

Then I'd assume you need to run this installer (online version).

Reason being sometimes the offline installer doesn't work.

You're welcome.

I still don't understand why in some cases the offline installer doesn't work whereas the online one works fine.
