Title: Avast Running or Not

So this has happened a couple of times this week.  According to the task manager Avastui.exe*32 is running using 3316k

However if I try to scan a downloaded file I get a pop up saying"Avastui process (AvastUI.exe) is currently not running. Please run the application before starting a scan.

Clicking on the avastui.exe doesn't do anything.  Running as an admin also does nothing.  I have re-started my machine, and re-booted it today and nothing changes.


I have no idea what is going on.

1) Uninstall avast via add/remove.
2) Download avast uninstall utility. Run your computer in safe mode.
3) Run Avast Uninstall Utility. It will ask you to restart. Click restart
4) Download and install a fresh new copy of Avast. Register your avast.
5) Restart your computer.

Any idea what happened?  I've used Avast for like a decade and never had a hiccup before.

Dont know. Maybe a Bug or something.

My Grandpa had a System error with Avastui.exe some days ago, i had to repair Avast.
