Title: The WebSheild.
Post by: Ricky2005 on June 02, 2005, 11:16:35 PM
Earlier today I was looking in the web sheild and found that you can block websites, I figured this only worked if you set the setting to 'Custom' which I did, and it went back to High. How can I block websites?
Thanks in advance.

Under "customize" - "url blocking" - you should see a check box for "enable url blocking".  ;)

I did do that, but it's still the same.

Normal,High or Custom, doesn't matter for Web Shield. Slider is there because the interface is designed this way,but slider doesn't change anything when moved. At least not for Web Shield.

Ok but I tried blocking my web server, on my PC ip (127.0.0.1) and nothing happened. What can I do? Also what happens when the web server blocks a website?
EDIT: I found that I was setting the addressed wrong, thanks for your help anyway. (I was just type http://bbc.co.uk/ instead of things like http://*.bbc.co.uk/*) I don't actually want to block bbc, it's just an example of what I did wrong.

It only works for url website.com, etc. and not IP addresses as far as I'm aware.

Localhost is excluded if you tick this option on first tab.
I belive only web addresses can be excluded (no IPs).
