I'm pretty sure that's just cosmetic. I don't believe it's switching to public when you close the app.

Just as an aside, Bitdefender does the same exact thing with it's Autopilot switch when you open the app. It switches from User to Auto when it opens if you have it set to auto.

You mean your shortened link should look like this?  http://longurl.org/expand?url=http%3A%2F%2Ftinypic.com%2Fr%2Fztslm1%2F5 (http://longurl.org/expand?url=http%3A%2F%2Ftinypic.com%2Fr%2Fztslm1%2F5)

Standard answer is that the best way to regain privacy is to not post anything, surf anywhere, download anything, etc., on the 'net.  Horse left the barn a long time ago, and that would apply everywhere, not just to avast!, if it does, and the only way back is to stay off the internet.

This is just how the button states are animated.

Just a note: are you guys aware of the fact, that public is the setting where you get more privacy == the firewall blocks more since you told it you are in a public place, where strangers might be listening.

So, unless you need it for accessing your local/private parts of the network, it might be better to keep it on "public".
