Title: Various Problems
Post by: transcendentwolf on June 05, 2005, 10:37:07 PM
I have some type of trojan that continues to reproduce no matter how many times I try and remove it manually or through a scanner.  What it's doing is creating a folder in C:\ named "Uploads" which is only viewable when I expose hidden files and inside of that folder contains 100's of .zip files each named after various programs.  Inside of each zip file is a setup.exe.  Also in the C:\ is a xz.exe.  When running avast before I turned up several Win32.gen UPX I believe it was and also several Win32.gen Other's.  I ecently ran avast again and didn't find anything however xz.exe and the Uploads folder continues to restore it's self with each restart.  I'm unsure of the nature of this virus or what exactly it does.  My cousin came to visit and spent some time on LimeWire and said he downloaded some stuff.  I'm assuming this is where it came from.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks again
Mike

These two powerful anti-Trojan programs are worth a try:

TDS-3 (Download the definitions file and move to the program folder.)

http://tds.diamondcs.com.au/

and TrojanHunter

http://www.trojanhunter.com/

They both have a free trial, and will find Trojans that anti-virus programs miss.

Ewido is also worth trying: it has a free version:
