I'm new to this so excuse me if I'm posting in the wrong place also sorry for my inglish
Avast is asking me for a password in order to let me run an anti rootkit program and in order to let me see avast settings. Only password I remember is for Avast account and is not working for this propose.
I found this solution on the internet
https://support3.avast.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=1026
But I don't understand where am i supposed to write "new" password.
Another solution is to unninstall reinstall, but I don't want to do this also it will not solve setting acceses problem

It's worth a shot.. if you never set a password... leave it blank. Don't enter anything and click okay.

i'm a 71 years old man who is new to computer and dealing with rootkits and trojan. can you tell me what is worst thing that can happens if I type
“C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Administration Console\Avast.Sbc.Service.exe” –c password -p NewPassword
In windows command processor?
Is this a common problem?
-
I just did but it didn't work I got something like this after pressing "Enter"
El sistema no puede encontrar la ruta especificada
Roughly: Sistem can not find specified route

If you don't remember the password then.. a clean install will reinstall avast and reset the password. Here is how to do so:
I'd recommend a clean install of v9.
1. Download Avastclear, Rejzors uninstall tool and the appropriate Avast program edition
http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_pro_antivirus_setup.exe
http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_internet_security_setup.exe
http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_premier_antivirus_setup.exe
Avastclear : http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avastclear.exe
Rejzors Uninstall tool: http://rejzor.wordpress.com/avast-cleanup-tool/
2. Uninstall Avast by control panel [If you don't have Avast in control Panel go to #4]
3. Uninstall in safe mode using Avastclear.
4. Run Rejzors Uninstall Utility in Normal Mode (removes traces avastclear doesn't) - reboot.
5. Install the version you downloaded.
6. Reboot.

I think i'm in trouble. I downloaded unnstalling tool and preceed in safe mode then it asked if I was sure of location so I click no but it still uninstalled avast, I tried to open sopho and got a maessage with Avast logo.
Something about language not being selected or something like this.
Sould I try to unninstall again?

What's sopho? Do you mean Sophos antivirus ?
Do the steps again and the location should be C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast.
Remember you need to run both avastclear and avast uninstall utility.

I was traying to run Sophos rootkit remover when avast asked for a password it also asked for this password when I try to unninstall normal mode.
Alikhan Now i notice I use Avastclear but I didn't download Rejzors Uninstall tool
Should I use it now?
-
why do you want to run these rootkit Tools .... are you infected?
-
Why are you running Sophos Anti Rootkit? Avast has anti-rootkit scan after 8 mins on startup.
Do all the steps mentioned please. It is clearly instructed in steps...
The location to delete is C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast. (Assuming your windows is installed on drive C)

You choose yes and it logs you onto safe mode...
Then you run that Avastclear...
Here is a link to the cleanup tool: https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=94a12102e5094675&id=94A12102E5094675%21952&authkey=!AHu_KR3cJN1jHt4

Save the uninstall tool and run it on the Desktop. Once that is done, restart the computer. Then download the correct version of Avast and install it.

Yes, it was supposed to open a black window. You did it right. You can eliminate them if you want that's up to you. I'd suggest you delete them since they serve no use now.
