Title: Avast slowing down things on Facebook

I have just got rid of Norton and installed Avast Anitvirus free and I went onto facebook and found that some of the things I used weren't working so have turned off block social network sites on the little menu top right in the menu bar.  We use Firefox if this is of interest, but now I go to a group page on facebook and typing anything is taking ages, the computer keeps hanging.  It never used to do that.  What settings can I change ?
