Title: trojan horse downloader.agent.ab
Post by: dpict59 on June 07, 2005, 02:21:02 AM
Hi All,
I have found a virus that comes up in a related virus software scan as a trojan horse downloader. agent.ab. I cannot get avast to find it but have the filepath for it. avast, it seems cannot remove it or recognize it. It seems to have been in a an anti-adware program called Adaware se personal and was installed to a temp file. I have followed the instructions posted here, emptying temp folders etc... but need further assistance. I am running windows 98 and have recently updated all patches, within 2 weeks. Any help out there? Dpict59

Can you send the samples to virus@avast.com ?
You can zip and password the files... Inform a link to this thread and the password used.
You can send the files to Chest and, from there, resend to Alwil for analysis.
Thanks.

It seems to have been in a an anti-adware program called Ad-aware se personal and was installed to a temp file.
Ad-aware is a legitimic application but, maybe, this file is not from it...
Can you post the name and the path of the infected file?

Are you using Windows XP?
Can you schedule a boot-time scanning?
Start avast! > Right click the skin > Schedule a boot-time scanning
Select for scanning archives.
Boot.
