Title: Corrupted avast! Antivirus detected. error
Post by: cypherinfo on November 25, 2013, 11:09:19 PM
Hello, after having uninstalled my previous version of avast: I had to uninstall the devices installed in the network adapter of the device manager to get my pc connect to the web again, I tried to install the new version of the free avast. I got the following error message: "The installer has detected corrupted avast! Antivirus installation on this computer (service 'aswSP') is running). thus this installer cannot continue. Please, repair your computer first." In the program application of installed window no avast is installed so I wonder how to fix it pls. Thank you.

Try a clean install.

http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avastclear.exe

Download locations
http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_pro_antivirus_setup.exe
http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_internet_security_setup.exe
http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_premier_antivirus_setup.exe

Download and save the uninstaller (avastclear).
Download and save the desired version of avast.
Run uninstaller for each version of avast you have "ever" had. You will be prompted to reboot into safe mode...do so.
Reboot.
Install avast.
Reboot and register.  :)

when I try to use uninstall avast clear to remove corrupted avast, the only file I find in my programs is "Avast Software" with many subfiles. I want to be sure I'm not uninstalling Avast easypass. Which Avast program is "Avast Software?"
If it's not this, I  can't locate any other Avast files on my C drive, but the anti-virus set-up keeps finding them and saying there's an aswAP error

Hello, try to use the free version of Revo Uninstaller and please let me know the result.

I already uninstalled with Rev and it left some Avast on my computer. The problem is that I don't want to mistakenly uninstall Avast EasyPass, which I had trouble getting to work.
I don't know if "Avast software" is the antivirus or the easypass. One tech support guy said the avast cleaner only removes the antivirus, but it asks you where the files are located, and I don't know, other that the "Avast Software" folder I found with lots and lots of subfiles from different dates, some overlapping when I installed easypass, which I got around the same time as the Antivirus

The "safest" way would be to backup your system (full disk image) before running the uninstaller...

That way, if something goes wrong, you can get back to where you are now.
