Title: Wrong edition installed
Post by: joburg on June 09, 2005, 04:53:09 PM
It seems that I’ve installed the wrong version of Avast. When I look at the ‘About’ I see ‘Product server’ with an expire date of end July. My machine is a std desktop and I’m sure I should have the Home edition. I’m running W98SE.
The original setupeng.exe I downloaded is 8966KB while the unused later setupeng.exe is 9132KB in size. There is nothing else I can check it with. Can I still correct this issue without too much disruption?

Should be able to just uninstall it and install the home edition.  I have removed and reinstalled avast! a few times with no problems, but not that particular version.

I believe it actually is correct... you look at the license key tree, right?
What does the "avast! version 4.6..." item say? Home/Professional?

Yep igor, I’m looking at that tree and on top it says avast! version 4.6 Home Edition. It is under Registration Key that it says Product: server. Now I’m confused.

I believe it's OK, you do have the Home version.
The key type is displayed in a strange way, I'd say.

Did you register your copy of home edition?

I’ve just this moment done so and it went thru without a problem. It is a temp installation and I wasn’t planning to register but the strange notification worried me somewhat.
