Title: Win 32 Pup: Gen
Post by: 1WeirdBug on December 08, 2013, 06:44:28 AM
I was minding my own business helping a friend out with downloading something through a site we'd used before and ran into this. So we WON'T be using it again, since it seems as if they've been messed with as of late.

Avast! found it and quarantined it right away... but one of my questions is this... is it safe to leave it be for now? Since I'm not the best at removing these kinds of things. I'd rather let someone who specializes in it, to remove it safely.

Or is there something that I can do to remove it easily?

We also reported it, since it seemed to be an unknown one.

It's Unconfirmed   654253   . crdownload

I made sure to delete it as it was downloading, so it didn't get a chance to get that far in that regard. But I want to be on the safe side.

Yes it did. I thought there was more to remove. That's all.

Used ADWcleaner and it cleaned things up too. Did a rescan with it and it came up clean. Also ran a scan with Hitman Pro and it came up ok as well. Am also running a SuperAntiSpyware scan (all separately of course).

It looks like things are ok, which is a good thing. Thank god it wasn't anything worse.

PUP = Possibly unwanted program.
It says nothing about if it is harmful or not.

If avast detected it and removed/quarantined it, it means that avast does it's job ;)
It protected your system from downloading/installing something that could be unwanted/harmful.
