... and now, I can't turn on my firewall. Any insight as to what's happening here?
-
Repair avast!:
1. Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs -> avast!
2. Click on 'Repair'.
3. Follow instructions.
4. Reboot.
-
I went to the Programs & Features part of the Control Panel and found avast, but there was no repair option when I selected it. What do?
Also, running Windows 7.

- Which avast!..?? (IS/Premier)
- Which version..??
- OS..?? (32/64 Bit..? - which SP..?)
- Other security related software installed..??
- Which AV(s) did you use before avast!..??
-
1. Premier
2. 2014.9.0.2011, the most recent version, as I updated it just last night
3. Windows 7, 32-bit, I believe. What's an SP?
4. Super Anti-Spyware, which I installed last night as well, and promptly uninstalled this morning due to avast! acting up.
5. Er... does Windows Security Essentials count?

Windows 7, 32-bit, I believe. What's an SP?
SP means Service Pack. SP1 would be the latest for W7. Do you have it installed..??
-
Yep. SP1 is installed.

1. Download avast! Premier Antivirus: http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_premier_antivirus_setup.exe
2. Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed avast! versions..!!)
3. Reinstall avast! with the downloaded installer from point 1.
4. Reboot.

It worked! Thanks so much for your help!

You're welcome.
