Title: after automatic virus defination update avast has been updated popup is not showing

hai using windows 8 32 bit system avast free latest version is updating virus defination automatically but not showing the popups that avast has been updated . Is it normal for avast 9 latest version or there is something wrong? I have not change any setting from avast using defult settings. Anyone want to help?

Is the box ticked?
GUI>Settings>Updates>scroll down to "details"
