Title: Avast + Samsung SSD
Post by: ZtrydR on April 12, 2014, 06:13:16 PM
I can't seem to find any info on this so I will ask here (There was a post before but I cannot find it now). Not too long ago I installed a SSD as my primary drive for my PC. After installing windows and all my previous software I installed Avast Internet Security. Shortly after my PC wouldn't boot. At first I thought it was a driver problem or a problem with some new software I had installed "AI Suit from ASUS".

Turns out Avast was causing my PC to not boot. I've been without an AV for awhile now and am looking to jump back onto Avast. I just don't want to install it and have the PC not boot again.

So does anyone know if there are still issues with the Samsung Evo 840 SSD and Avast?

That's good new. I really don't feel like having to reinstall everything again.

I doubt it matter but I have the 750 GB version.

Try a repair...Control Panel>Uninstall a Program>double click "avast">click "repair">reboot

If you cannot do this in normal mode, try to do a repair in safe mode.

You may need to reboot more than once.

I can't even get into safe mode. (On Windows 8.1) I can't do anything once it gets past the BIOS screen. I've still not installed it since I am still fearful of it causing problems.
