Title: VBS infected file: Not able to find on drive

While using Avast32 under Windows 98, I keep receiving the message 'See Administrator' or something like that for a file on my C drive that has already been deleted by myself. I first encountered the generic virus (VBS: Malware [script]) when it infected another file in the same directory and deleted using the delete function in Avast but have been unable to successfully figure out why a non-existant file continues to cause Avast to warm me?

What Programm said "See Administrator" and when does it say that? At Startup? Maybe the name of that VBS file is still somewhere in the Regestry. Let Regedit search the Registry for that filename.

BTW: Normaly VBS Scripts are unable to infect other files.

Are you permanently connected to the internet? Do you use any firewall? Do you have you win shares closed and with strong password?

I believe it might be the damn feature of avast32 3.0. >:(
You have avast 3, don't you?

Yes, it is "Virus warning" feature in avast32 3.0. Go to Computer/Settings/Advanced menu in Enhanced user interface and uncheck "Show Virus warning..." ckeckbox.

I don't understand, I should turn off the virus warning message? Won't that prevent Avast from warning me of other viruses?

There was a suggestion that search the infected file's name in the registry. I deleted the entry but I am still getting the same warning: 'See your system administrator'?
