Hi, I am using your free antivirus, and in the software updator tool, even when i installed the latest flash player from adobe.com, the status of flash player active x is shown as not upto date. Is there a bug, or should i do something to overcome. Every other status is correctly displaying.
-
You've updated Flash Player Plugin, for Firefox. Flash Player ActiveX shows as needing update. They are separate install programs. http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_player_13_active_x.exe (http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_player_13_active_x.exe)

What OS/SP?
What version of the flash plugin do you have installed?
Did you install the latest version for IE as well as for other browsers?
Did you click the "refresh" button in the avast software updater?
You should have version : 13,0,0,206
And as Gopher said, adobe flash player and the flash activex plugin are two different things.
-
I have installed the 13.0.0.206 from adobe.com
I have installed the avast 2014.9.0.2008,140503-0
My Os win 7 32
Where to download then, flash active x plug in. When i click the update button, that goes to the adobe flash player page in adobe.com.
I did refresh the button, but that does not solve my problem.
I have checked shock player plug in as 13.0.0.206.Why this error.
I am using firefox latest beta version

You do need to close all browsers before installing flash and/or the activx plugin.

Hi, when i tried to run the debug.exe in the link shown,by Eddy,
it reports that this is not a valid win32 application.
-
Just download the ActiveX version from the link I provided in my first reply to this thread and run it. It will update Adobe ActiveX.

Hi, Gopherjohn,
This has solved the problem. Thank you.
But should one go to this link for periodical updates on adobe activex?
Is there no automated updates settings for this one.
I have enabled the program to notify me before installing any updates and usually select to update. Pl

There was a recent Windows Update released (KB2961887) that updated my IE flash version to current on Win 8.1. You should no t have to go to Adobe directly to update your IE flash but I'm glad it worked for you anyway.

I always manually update Adobe Flash. Sometimes the automatic updates contain 'extras' tagging along. I routinely uninstall the previous version ( even though that is supposedly no longer necessary ).
The link I provided was gleaned from http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html (http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html) (scroll down) and will contain the links to the latest versions. Get the Flash uninstaller from http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/support/uninstall_flash_player.exe (http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/support/uninstall_flash_player.exe) and run that during the uninstall before reinstalling.

Those running Windows 7 and older still have to go to Adobe to get the updates.

Thank you. I missed the fact the OP was specifically running Windows 7.

Visit http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html (http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html), scroll down and select the version there that you desire. Adobe has changed from their longtime static links to a new link for every major update.

Hi, This is connected with adobe flash player status and hence i am continuing this thread.
Even though i updated the adobe flash player, the plugin status of the firefox reminds to update this flash player. I tried uninstall and reinstall, but the status never changed. The net result is the videos of TV sites, stops suddenly with error loading media file and stops in the middle of the viewing.
How to correct it. Avast software update shows it as updated status. The latest adobe flash player version i have is 16.0.0.296 version of firefox
NPSWF32_16_0_0_296.dll this the file shown in add on tab, plugins firefox

If you are using v2015 you can keep Flash updated through the "Software Updater".
-
Hi, I said in my post, that avast shows as updated, but not firefox
-
Hi, Please see the attached jpg file
-
Adobe released an update to Adobe Flash today, to v 16.0.0.305.
-
Hi, Thank you Gopher,
Now firefox shows it as updated. I already had this version, downloaded yesterday. Yesterday it shows as no adobe flash player installed in your computer status. But today, after starting the computer and checking the status, it shows as updated. Is there any issue or security lapse in the previous version? Why firefox says as vulnerable, when i had the latest version released then. The version 16.0.0.297 yesterday.
I happened to see the security issue on flash player on some critical vulnerability on their latest edition. Does this version solves the issue or just updated?

The current version of Adobe Flash is 16.0.0.305, which is the one that fixes the latest known vulnerability. With Adobe Flash having a bad reputation with repeated vulnerabilities, it's likely that other exploits are already being tested and possibly used. The window for Flash being secure doesn't last long.
