Title: Avast has started using 100% of the CPU again!
Post by: arrjayjee on May 16, 2014, 08:26:35 AM
It started happening again last night (while playing Dark Souls 2 no less. Ever tried to play Dark Souls 2 when your frame-rate drops to single digits?)

I've double checked everything to make sure the program and virus definitions are all fully up to date. They are. I disabled Avast's shields and the like and went back to my game. I quit out, restarted the shields and didn't have any problems.

This morning I wake up and the CPU load is ridiculously high again. I can't even load web pages because Avast is using all the CPU it can get its grubby little hands on.

I'm seriously considering moving to AVG or something unless these CPU hungry problems get resolved.

Please, tell me how to fix this issue *again* so I can get things running normally.

I'm running Windows 7, fully updated.
Avast version is: 2014.9.0.2018
Virus definitions version is: 140515-2
