Title: How to license unmanaged clients
Post by: johncase142 on May 16, 2014, 05:26:57 PM
We have a large number of laptop computers that are located in satellite locations where we do not have a server (on someone else's network) and they are not necessarily using Avast. How can we license several hundred machines at one location that are essentially unmanged? Or, can we open up our Avast server through the firewall to allow clients to connect? If so, how?

While it's sometimes possible, remote management is not officially supported. If you have machines in separate locations, it's recommended to install them manually as standalone clients. Of course, you can of course use multiple versions of the management console if you've got several networks, though if they're [clients machines]  laptops, a client that was installed on one network will need to be reconfigured in the client.ini before it can communicate to the console in another network.

You can use a single AES to manage machines in different LANs/WANs.

You need to create a group for these machines in the "Computer Catalog" and configure the public IP from your router.
You have to open TCP/16136 and TCP/16139 in your router/firewall and redirect them to the private IP of your AES.
You have to create a specific installation package in AEA to indicate the public IP for the console.

Here is a little manual (sorry I know that it's in spanish): http://www.infratech.es/avast/eas-acceso-remoto.html
