Title: Avast Software Updater / JRE update rebooting my system without warning

Hello,

I just wanted to point out a really annoying behaviour of the Avast Software Updater.

Today I let the Software Updater update my JRE installation, and without any prior notice, Windows suddenly started rebooting.

I hope it is not the intended behaviour and will be fixed in the future...

Automatic updates are nice and all, but not if I lose control of my PC in the process.

I'm running Avast Pro (version 2014.9.0.2018) on Windows 8.1 Pro.

Hi tomcat84. Welcome to avast! Forum.

I do have SU active, and I can not tell you why your Windows rebooted. May be because the new installed program needed it to install completely. Now, I use SU only to warn me of any outdated software in case I missed any of the new updates. I rather go to the program site and download/install the update myself. That way I can make sure nothing else is installing with it. If you want to deactivate the outdated program to install automatically:

Open avast! > Settings > Tools > Customize > Uncheck " Automatically download updates if possible " see image
