Avast free 2014 9.0.2018
I got a pop up saying there was a critical update for Java Runtime Environment 7 (32 bit) new version: 7.0.600.19.
I clicked ‘update’ for the software updater to install it, but the updater is hung on "preparing".
I reset the database (like you suggested in another post), (open avast! --> Settings --> Tools --> Software Updater Customize --> Reset database now), but this did NOT work.
any other suggestions?

edit: i should mention that i had this same issue a few weeks back with the update of Flash Player ActiveX (which finally resolved itself).
