Title: avast! and AVG Plus with Firewall
Post by: Lisandro on July 18, 2005, 12:13:34 AM
AVG has a paid version with firewall (http://www.grisoft.com/doc/AvgPlusFw).
Does anybody test it? I know the most of us does not like 'integration' of these applications making a all-in-one system.
Anyway, just to start a discussion about this  8)

I don't feel like that their firewall is strong.  I doubt most of us tested this product  yet.  ;)

AVG + Firewall is basically just the crap of Kerio modded to fit in with the AVG GUI

The problem with combo antivirus/firewalls is that either component is usually not made by the same company

Examples:
Zonealarm w/ Antivirus = Zonealarm firewall / Mcafee antivirus
AVG w/ Firewall = AVG antivirus / Kerio firewall

I don't understand why someone might think that AVG has a Kerio firewall component. It does not work in a similar way, it does not provide same level of protection and is based completely on a different technology.

Reinstalling Windows is pain suffering at first but once you keep doing it daily it can be less stressful.   :)

Counting my help to fiends it's ~10 times I've done it, so it's easy for me, but it takes same time. But thaks to avast it's more than half year working without any need to reinstall my Win.  ;)

The first time I heard that reinstalling Windows is torture was from "Computer Virus for Dummies"  I'm glad that some of us take the patient and effort to reinstall their OS manually. ;D

I barely even try it for the first time.  My friend wanted to unistall his old OS so that he can change it to Windows XP.   To be honest, I didn't even know where I can could unistall his old OS.   :(
